Hong kong to Macau

So in this section I'm gonna talk briefly about going from HK to Macau China.

Ferry (high speed boat) make sure you get off at Sheung Wan  MTR station.
Don't use the red self serve machines...we could've been reading it wrong but the prices were double than buying from agent. There were 4 of us and to get a round trip the tickets were 160 per person Honk Kong dollars. Approx $27 CAD. Otherwise for one persons 170 HKD. Ferries run every half hr starting. From 15 past and quarter to. ( for ex. 13:15 or 13:45)

****REMEMBER YOUR PASSPORT****
I forgot mine, had to take an hr later ferry and got separated from friends :(

No meals included in the ride that is around 1 hr and you must catch the last boat by 9 or 930pm to head back to HK I believe in the evening. You can buy refreshments and what not on the boat. Its super chilly as the blast the AC.

Things to do in Macau:

1) World famous Portuguese tarts
We took an uber from the ferry station into the "city" ...worth it if you have a few travelers with you. I forget how much it costs I wanna say it was around 70 HKD for the whole trip, and the drive was pretty far.
The tarsts are amazing (see pics below). The store is apparently always busy, so the tarts are always warm and the crust is always flakey!! Do not expect the Portuguese style ones though with the crazy custard cause that`s not what these are like. These are like traditional Chinese "dan tat" except they're 1000X better! They are deeper than the chinese ones and the tops are burnt like the portugese ones. Each tarts was 9 HKD or 6/50 HKD. My mouth is watering just thinking about them haha!!!

2) The famous church wall that is the remnants of the whole church. (St. Paul) Not gonna lie super touristy a lot of China folks and Korean too surprisingly... all the seflie sticks....kinda hard to get some good photos.

3) From #2 you walk down into the "village" of shops and restaurants.  There you find a tightly cobble stone area full of shops and it is crammed to the fullest. There you will find tons of beef jerky and Asian cookies and other unhealthy snacks. After finishing in that area we walked down onto the major streets where cars have access to. And again just tons of jewelry shops, clothing etc. I didn't like it much but depends what you're  into. Then as you keep walking you will eventually hit the casinos. We went to one that had a large globe/sphere attached. No wifi in there like WTF!!!! From there it was getting late so we decided to head back to HK to wrap up the day.

Taipei to sun moon lake

hey friends so we are on route from taipei taiwan to sun moon lake which supposedly is a must see in taiwan. Just search up pics on google and you will see! So after spending a nice relaxing morning in taipei and eating a local breaky which consists of this fried bread similar to naan bread and a friend egg omelet with green onions and to top it off a chinese fried doughnut that you would normally eat with congee. So the egg and the chinese fried doughnut are wrapped in the nan bread and omg let me tell you how oily and fatty I felt after eating it...it was delicious but so not nutritious!!, ohh and the place we went to had a line up that wrapped down the stairs all the way out the door. Have to wait a good 20 mins. Worth it for the experience and to see what eating traditional breakfast here is like. Anyway so our plan is to head to sun moon lake. We take the MTR to the main station and figure we would catch a direct bus using king bus services. Couldn't find any schedule online and when we called in we got this fax ringing noise. So whatever we figure lets buy our tickets there. Get there at noon and informed the bus leaves at. 10:00 am and 15:00 respectively. So we totally miss our shot and then decided to take a bus to taichung the closest city to sun moon and take a connecting bus to sun moon. The price from taipei to taichung is 220 NTD. Which is equivalent to just under $10 CAD. And from there it costs 190 NTD one way to sun moon or 340NTD round trip . So i am  currently on the bus and blogging about the king bus station non sense. Still a good bus to ride with but def lacks proper info for travellers. So excited to do some biking around sun moon on a giant bike hopefully! Will post about that shortly.

Hong kong day 1/2

hey hey hey! So i am laying in bed in my tiny air bnb on temple st and it is my mission to keep an active update this time on my travels! So i am incredibly jet lagged atm and its only 9am but i feel like its like a whole other time. So the flight was long and butt numbing to say the least. I was lucky cause I was able to change my seats once we took off and i ended up sitting in a seat near the emergnecy exits and had much more leg room. I started up a convo with the people sitting next to me and the one guy from Montreal was doing a connecting flight to manilla for work. He said he has to travel for  work about once a year and if its not to Manilla then its to Uraguay. The lady next to me was visiting her daughter. So after we collected our things we had to take a shuttle bus into the city and the first few things i noticed was the heat, and how many non chinese people were here! It was really weird cause even though i know Hk has a huge expat community i didnt know just how large it is. On the train there was a family from the UK and the girls were all under the age of 13 all speaking with their englsih accents, andthen the person beside me was like east indian and yeah just lots of foreigners. Another thing that was nice was that english is essentially written everywhere.
Upon arriving to our tiny place, i must say i was totally shocked to see how small and tightly crammed stuff was.
Check out my instagram to see my ridiculous video of me doing like a panoramic video of our place: @soundreflections87

Anyway we finished the night at this wicked bar/restaurant that reminded me much of Moxies. We had a stunning view of the city and the lights and for a split second i fantisized what it would be like to live here for a year or something. I can definitely see the appeal and why there are so many expats here. Its easy to forget about life and just work hard to play hard. We met two girls who were living here, both chinese but born from places other than HK. One was from south africa and the other from brisbane. They really loved living here and i was super jealous that spoke perfect canto and mandarin.!!Also what shocked me was how bilingual native HKers are here.  Our server was from pakistan and could speak fluent canto. I dunno why i am always amazed when people can speak multiple languages, you become such an asset when anywhere out of N america. Or maybe im just weird cause im super fascinated with the world and different cultures :P
This morning when walking to buy some freshly baked buns i ran into a group of cyclists all in their gear with fancy bikes just sitting in the middle of the street eating off plastic stools and the whole scene was weird but i was so happy to see that it appears a cycling community exists here. Again sort of picturing myself living here and seeing how it is possible hahaha!! Now to find a good yoga studio...;)
Anyways i am gonna get ready as i am meeting some cousins for lunch in s couple hours...and by that i mean take a quick cat nap
Peace
